March-ing Ahead!

Hello Merfolk and otherwise.

I apologize for the hiatus! It is now March 2012 and unreasonably warm and balmy lately! I sure am not complaining. :)  How are all of YOU?
I am back in action as the ice melts and the other mermaids come out of seclusion caused by winter.
I have a new tail in process and am working on the overall look currently for Mermaid Aiyana. :) Very exciting!

I also have been in collaborating and planning mode with a few very creative people. The end result we hope, is an interesting artistic approach to merfolk. (In book form.) I am blessed to have amazingly talented and creative friends, so I am really excited to get materials together with them!

As I have mentioned before on my facebook (mermaid and otherwise), Port Washington Pirate Festival is coming in early June, and I would love to see other mermaids in the general area come on out to play with me! Unless you go ahead and get in touch with the festival heads, it is unpaid. Just an FYI. I love doing local events pro Bono! It's a great way to just let loose, have fun, network, and make others smile. :)

In the last few months alone, I have noticed TONS of new mermaids arising! This is so cool to see and network with you all! I am very blessed to have each and every one of you as a friend; human or fish folk!

Also, another shout out to other local mermaids. Photoshoots! We know you love em! I want to wrangle mermaids together not only for events like Bristol Ren Faire, Pirate Festival, etc... but for photoshoots! Let me know if you are interested and/or in the area /traveling to the area/etc. I would be more than happy to meet and connect with you! Also, mermaids to be, if you have any questions about what it is we do or how to do it, please please please do not be shy! I'd love to help!

A schedule of my events this season will be posted soon!

The ice is gone, the lake is cool, the sun is up. Get your fins ready for the season! I am so anxious!

Much love and light to you all!
Thanks for reading!

Port Pirate Festival 2011

Long time, no blog! The winter tends to be quite dull for a mermaid! My apologies for the hiatus. BUT! Back to business! The sun is shining, the grass is green, the water is warm...ish. and I am ready!

Next stop, Port Washington Pirate Festival in lovely Port Washington, Wisconsin! My home town! I love this town so very much. It has so much to offer to anyone of any age! We have great dining, accomodations, services, shops and more! Not to mention the incredible view we have of Lake Michigan. A sunrise in Port, is NOT something you want to miss! The sun rises over the shimmering water and it sets along the town, which makes for an awesome silhouette of our home.

Port Washington Pirate Festival takes place June 3-5th (Friday-Sunday) 2011.

Oh, Oh, It's Magic! You knowww....

Holy COW! It's been a WHILE! Firstly, I'm gonna talk about a recently past event I attended and had a BLAST! ConVocation 2011 in Troy, MI. A gathering place of joy, fun, friends, faith, and unity for 3 nights and 4 days. Focusing on, but not limited to Paganism, Wicca, Witchcraft, Voodoo, Hoodoo, Shamanism, Druid, etc! Although I am not of any of those faiths really, it was so much FUN!  Tons of things to do, dancing, shopping, and classes! I attended with two of my friends who are of the pagan/wiccan faith. I learned a lot while there! So fascinating to open your mind and heart to people of other faiths and ideas and passions! Everyone there was SO very kind to us all. I felt very calm, relaxed, outgoing, playful, and safe among all these new people! I made many awesome new friends that I hope to see next year or sooner! Everyone was dressed so regally! From lolita, to goth, to steampunk, to ritual dress, to masquerade attire, everyone was dressed to the nines! I wish I could make my camera work correctly, then I could upload the pictures I took there! Drat!

ConVocation is run solely by the good people who have the vision, patience, and efforts to keep the pagan community together and informed. With support from groups such as the Magickal Education Council, Pagan Unity Fest, Real Witches Ball, PaganPride.org, Federation of Circles and Solitaires, Tempest Smith Foundation, and many others, ConVocation has run for several years now and it is gaining more publicity and support throughout the times! This event seems to truly be the little train engine that could. More people flock to this event and others locally in the efforts to keep those of the faith united. It is a brilliant thing to see these days!
There were wonderful artisans, teachers, authors, artists, musicians on board that made the experience incredible and so creative!

I had such a wonderful time there and I will be attending next year for sure! Very fascinating! : )

Now then! On to other business!

Mermaid Aiyana is in full spring swing, baby! Working on her brand new mermaid top/costume and her new "look". It is so soft and airy. Delicate but also strong and certain!

March 25 and 26 is Milwaukee Ghost Ships Fest! YES! An awesome event for those interested in the great legends that lie beneath our great lakes and other bodies of freshwater here in the midwest! So eerie, so mysterious, so amazing! Come to the event and learn about these epic creations under the surface, relax, and check out the booths for Scuba Diving and shipwreck diving! It is an amazing feeling to be face to face with history! As I said before, sure you can go to the warm tropical waters and see pretty fish. Or you can try a real adventure right here in the great lakes area, and try your hand with shipwreck scuba diving! Imagine yourself inches away from powerful man-made beauties, resting in the depths, and the history surrounding them!

Come see Mermaid Aiyana at the Urge to Submerge Dive Club Booth (Amazing people! Amazing divers! Dive with us! It's fun and easy, and they are an awesome bunch!) and the Diver's Delight Scuba Diving Charters Booth (Once again, AMAZING people!) : )

Well all, that's enough for now! Don't want to drown you in all this mumbo jumbo! : ) Ps. Check out Mermaid Aiyana's new promo sheet just under the photo! :) <3

Linden -- Mermaid!

Linden Wolbert's Interview on Australia's Today Show

Lovely Linden Wolbert, the California mermaid was featured via satellite on Australia's Today Show!

Have a look-see! She is amazing and sweeter than honey. Linden's mermaid counterpart helps with drowning awareness for adults and children. A noble and brilliant cause! Her amazing tail was designed by a Special FX friend of hers in Hollywood. The tail alone weighs quite a bit I am sure!

Here's wishing love, hugs and fishes to Miss Linden and her increasing success! : )

Sorry for the delay in blog entries, I should be back on track today! : ) Again, thank you all and keep spreading the word! <3

...and the ocean waves do roll...

Maritime music. Is amazing. Need I say more? Oh, alright alright. I will say more. (to your dismay. Bwaha.)

So, there is this astounding group. Of astounding performers. Who are astounding people. Hearing them for the first time at Port Washington Pirate Festival in 2009... I fell in love and there was no turning back. (Seriously, this wild bunch will wrap you in net and literally drag you aboard. Erm...maybe that was just me. Drat!)

Bounding Main. http://boundingmain.com/

They are an amazing, hilarious, witty, and refreshing group of sea shanty singers that (whether you love the sea or not) you could just hug and collect the whole set! With traditional tunes and even original songs all their own, their creativity and calamity only continues to grow and flourish! Their taste in music is excellent and good for both children and adults alike. And fishy folk like me.

Even singing about me! *gasp!* Okay, well...not me per se, but my cousin! She was a sweetheart. Except...well...she...sank...ships .... and such... *Scratches head nervously*

"The Mermaid"

 HEY!

We mer-girls need to make a living too! And your fine ships sure work well as our furniture in the fathoms below. So...sorry 'bout that Bounding Main! :( (Not really. Your ship in specific serves as my parlor. Just sayin'.) : P

So, if you are lookin' for a good hearty tune to tap your foot (or fin) to, (Seriously, I totally just made that terrible pun. and I am NOT takin' it back!) Bounding Main would be the catch of the day! (Yep, Just made that terrible joke too. Hey now! No one said Mermaids were good with jokes.)

Give them a gander! If you like what you hear, make sure to support them, tell them, hug them, and buy their CDs which you can also hug! (Best part!) : )

No Calorie Left Behind!

As you may know, we mermaids DO eat!
And I love love LOVE my food. I have no shame or embarassment about what and how I eat. I am fairly "good", but when I have my dessert...I Do Not PANIC! Most people, (especially women and girls) panic in guilt when they eat a single brownie! This spurs on eating disorders which are tragic and horrible...

There truly is a mind body connection that many people have not tapped into that can save their sanity, love of food and self-image.
To truly believe what you eat will make you feel better, to truly feel that what you take in is what you need and want and will benefit you...science has proven that it WILL help. Given that we all still eat in healthy moderation for all we intake, you CAN eat that brownie and not destroy yourself over it.

My dearest friend and practically cousin-in-law, Kelli Blanchard has begun blogging about her culinary capers and adventures for this new year! It is inspiring, insightful, truthful, and witty. And Sweet! : )

Kelli is an amazing baker, and I have undoubtedly chosen her for making my wedding cake in the future times. She is so creative, wonderful, funny, and passionate!

Please follow her blog if what she says inspires you as well! She surely inspired me to ENJOY life. ENJOY food. ENJOY what that life can offer! and that darn well includes CHOCOLATE! :)

https://nocalorieleftbehind.wordpress.com/

Enjoy and send love, suggestions, insight to Kelli on her path to show us how to embrace Food! : )
Thank you all!
